A Baby Shower

His divine power has given us everything we

need for life and godliness through our knowledge

of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.

2 Peter 1:3, NIV

I never really thought much about baby showers

until I realized that I was going to have a baby and had

absolutely no baby supplies. To go from having nothing to

having everything needed for a baby requires effort and

involves an expense.

The purpose of a baby shower is to make sure all the

needs are met. After two baby showers, my baby was

fully supplied. All of the things received would not be used

right away. Some would not be used until the baby

had grown a little. Different things would be needed

at various stages, but everything was available.

When we receive God's forgiveness through Christ,

we are born again. We are babies who require certain

things to live our new life. Jesus has already put forth the

effort and paid the price to give us what we need.

While we have everything we need at the time of

our spiritual birth, all things may not be utilized right away.

Different things are needed at the various stages of our faith.

Some may not be used until we have grown some, but

everything we need is available to us because God has

already supplied it.

Prayer: Lord, help me to understand that You have already

given me everything I need to live a life of faith.
