Psalms 42:1-2a
“As the hart (deer) panteth
after the water brooks, so
panteth my soul after Thee, O
God. My soul thirsteth for God,
the Living God."
Psalms 63:1b
“ My soul thirsteth for Thee,
my flesh longeth for Thee
in a dry and thirsty land where
no water is.”

Deer have a tendency to feed
near the waters. When hunted,
they will take to the rivers,
and stay submerged
as long as they can. They then will swim downstream
until the ‘hunter’ goes away.
If the hunter does not give up
and they are chased, they become
faint and long for water
intensely. They 'pant' after the
water brooks.
This means they are excessively
dry and thirsty and
instinctively know that only the
water can quench their thirst.

David, the Psalmist, was also
dry and thirsty. At this point
in time he was in exile from Jerusalem, and had an overwhelming desire and
longing for the Living God,
the only One that can quench his
thirst.
At times we as Christians may
be in a ‘dry and thirsty’
land. We may be going through a
prolonged test or trial,
or we may be spiritually far
form the Lord. We may not have
‘drunk from the Living Fountain’
in a while, causing our soul to
be thirsty, in need of a
‘refreshing’ from the Holy
Spirit.
The deer has a place to go
when he is in need of water.
He doesn’t debate with himself about whether he should go drink he just
does it! David had ‘Someone’ he
could run to when he was thirsty
and in need. He knew he would be
filled with the life-giving
water. We also have Someone
we can turn to in time of need.

John 7:37b
“If any man thirst, let him
come unto me and drink.”
Isaiah 41:17-18
“When the poor and needy seek
water and there is
none, and their tongue fainteth
for thirst, I the Lord will hear
them, I the God of Israel will
not forsake them. I
will open up rivers in high
places and fountains in the
midst of the valley: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the
dry land springs of water."

Friend, Jesus has given the
invitation. He says: “Come
unto me all that labor and are
heavy-laden, and I will give
thee rest.” He is waiting to
give you what you need,
willing to quench your thirst.
He says He will open up
the ‘fountains’ in the midst of
your “valleys.” He has all
that you will ever need and much
more! He will make a
way where there seems no way, He
can take your situation, turn it
around for your good and His
glory. Nothing is too hard or
impossible for God!

God says in Isaiah 43:1-2 to
‘fear not.’ We have been
redeemed, He has called us by
our name, We are His. He will be
with us in every situation, and
He has promised to never leave
or forsake us.

Psalms 46:1 tells us He is
‘our refuge, a very PRESENT
help in trouble.' He is with us
right now in the present. He
is our refuge, our strong tower,
the One we can run to
and call upon in our time of
troubles.

Let God quench your thirst. Let
Him touch you with a
fresh touch of the anointing of the Holy Spirit. He is
waiting to give you ‘living
water’ so that you will ‘thirst
no more.’ Friend, God is waiting to be to you all that you will ever need,
all you have to do is say: ‘here
I am’ I promise you that you
will never be sorry! Run to Him,
He will give you ‘living water.
