When you haven't a breath left in you
to battle the long day ahead,
the Lord waits with arms wide open
and a place to lay down your head.

When you're smothered with work and worry,
overwhelmed by the tasks at hand,
He awaits your invitation.
At your call, He comes where you stand.

When the pressures of life are crushing
and your soul cries out for grace,
the Lord will ease your earthbound woes
and offer you breathing space.

Work and worry choke the life out of our days when we allow them to consume all the minutes of our hours. The time between the rise of the sun and the rise of the moon offers no joy. The time between the rise of the moon and rise of the sun offers no rest. We push past our physical and emotional limits, leave our souls in the dust.

Life was not designed to crush the breath out of a human being. God breathed life into us, knowing full well, the burdens the world would put upon us. In His great wisdom, He built a safe haven and a support system into the plan.

We were not dropped in the center of Creation as an afterthought, as detailed decorations on the blueprint of a masterful plan. Each and every one of us is an intrinsic part of the Master's plan. None disposable. None dispensable.

Matthew 11:28 says,

"Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden,

and I will give you rest."

The offer isn't exclusive to one particular group. Neither status or standing, race or gender makes you automatically eligible or ineligible for the offer. God doesn't recognize the labels we put on ourselves and He doesn't deal in gray areas. All means all, every last one of His precious children.

When days are joyless, nights restless, and life feeling more like a curse than a spiritual journey, God has not walked away. We have forgotten, that wherever we are, He is there.

Regardless of the length of time we fail to see Him or purposefully ignore Him, God's offer stands. For as long as we have breath left in our bodies, God's offer is good.

He is a patient Father, ever waiting for us to come home, ever waiting for us put down the burdens of the world and accept His offer of rest.
